Crazy SPC Money Tree Mission

Tobphashai (Lao for Money Tree)

Money trees are used to share giving and receiving within a community. They are commonly found outside temples in Laos. Families and individuals anonymously attach money onto the ‘trees.” Folks who need money come and take what they need anonymously. No passerby will know if somebody is adding money to the tree or harvesting money for survival.

Stockton Presbyterian Church will place our money tree on the front lawn of our church the night of the Fat Tuesday Pancake Dinner Party. It will be festooned green with money through the 40 days of Lent. We encourage the community to keep the tree green and let people know the money is there for the needy during this 40 day period. Families, individuals and friends can come anytime to clip their paper money onto the tree. What a great lesson in giving, trusting, giving and taking.

The initial greening of the tree will take place at 10:30am March 3, just before our 11am church service. All are welcome.

A Money Tree in Stockton might be crazy…but Crazy Good.
